The Worst Day

In Japan, there is such a case when a man and a woman,
who were prohibited from marrying with some reason,
die together.
this self-murder is called "shin-dzyu".

On December 12th, I received a mail from Yan, informing her exam ended. It was sent from different address from the former. A screen saver was attached with the mail but it didn't run. I wrote a mail asking to resend it once more, but no response returned. I thought that she hadn't come back to her working place. As it was certain that the saver was downloaded from any site on the Web, I sought the file using search-engines and could find a site having the file.

That was a helpless site containing enormous collection of popular songs spitting out all of obscene words and other rubbishes, but at any rate I succeeded to download the file and run. Her present was an image of water tank with a fish swimming. Starting it, the screen was first dyed over in color of the deep ocean and then began finely trembling and oozing out as if my eyes were dimmed with tears. At the moment when I had a look at it, I understood all the matter, that is, it was her parting present to me and she was going to disappear even without saying "Farewell" from front of me.

I downloaded with no hesitation two files of Bad_day.exe and HpyWrld.exe placed in the site of my new friend "Sean". There was a note saying "Be sure not to use this program while having a bad day. " but I considered that there would never be such an appropriate day as today to execute them. When I started the HpyWrld, appeared the alarm message "A low level Hard Disk format will proceed in 30 seconds if the cancel button is not pressed.", and the counting started. Tried to press the cancel button, the button escaped to any direction sensing the position of my mouse. It was a ultimate bad dream. All of my job for almost 15 years was stored in the disk.

It might be possible to stop the program using "CTRL"+"ALT"+"DEL" keys but I didn't do that. Being hurried by the tick of the seconds of the timer, I thought. I had come this site led by Yan. I believed Yan absolutely. I would willingly accept it. There should never be any bad thing related to Yan. If it was not so, I would rather "die here with Yan..." (M.N. 26/12/99)
